Buc-ee's just opened their 60th location in Johnstown, CO. We were so excited, we made a trip to the new store to grab some beaver nuggets, beef jerky, and BBQ lunch. Buc-ee's is widely known in Texas and rapidly growing to locations across the US. They are know for their numerous gas pumps, good food, and clean restrooms.
This week we installed our new Micro-Air Easy Touch Thermostat, replacing our Domestic thermostat that came installed in our Airstream Flying Cloud 27FBQ. This was a very simple install and we spent a little time near the end of the video showing off the bluetooth connectivity.

Last weekend we attended the 2024 International Sportsmen's Expo in Denver, Colorado at the Convention Center downtown. While it was -4 degrees F outside, we were able to get a little outside fun by looking around the expo.

During our Disney trip this holiday season, we visited Animal Kingdom. We had a nice surprise and got to meet the Merry Menagerie. These life-size animal puppets are themed for winter and come out to perform and interact with guests on Discovery Island. You can find them in front of the Tree of Life, typically right around the area between Island Mercantile and Discovery Trading Company. We met many of the animal puppets and their puppeteers were very entertaining.
We had such an excellent time during our visits to EPCOT in November and early December. A standout part of all of the visits was riding Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. We were both blown away by the queue, the ride and all of the surprises along the way.

We took a look at some EarthRoamers, Adrenalin Industries Overlanding and Expedition trucks, Expedition Trailers Voyager, Lance Enduro Adventure Trailer, and the all new 2024 Lexus GX 550.
During our visit to the 2023 Overland Expo Mountain West, we visited quite a few vendors. There were four stand out vendors for us that we either made a purchase from or are planning a purchase from in the foreseeable future.
The four vendors that we cover here are: Devos Outdoors, Peak Design, Kokopelli (rafts) and We Boost. The reps at each of their booths were incredibly knowledgable and generous with their time giving as much detail as we needed to understand the product.
Today we visited the 2023 Overland Expo Mountain West in Loveland, CO. This is our third year visiting the expo. We really enjoy seeing all of the new products and gear that the vendors are showcasing. We visited with Kokopelli, Devos, Peak Designs, Orvis, Garmin, Tailgater Tire Table, Earthroamer, UpTop Overland, Baja Designs, Lightship, Timberleaf, just to name a few. We also got to see the all new 2024 Lexus GX, the 2024 Toyota Tacoma, and the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser. What were your favorite vehicles at the overland expo?
We use a few cargo solutions from Yeti. This video covers how we organize our camera gear in the Yeti Loadout Go Box 30. We hope what you find is how well constructed the Loadout is as well as how much the Go Box can truly hold. This Go Box contains all of our camera equipment that we use most frequently. The cameras we use most frequently are 2 Go Pro Hero 11s, a DJI Pocket 2, Nikon Z7II, and DJI Action 3. We also use DJI wireless Mics as well as wide variety of mounts for action cameras.
When our Old English Sheepdog puppy was 9 months old, he began having issues with his eyes. Follow along as we talk through his entropion story. We had never heard of entropion, nor did we realize it was common in dogs, specifically Old English Sheepdogs. We boondocked in our Airstream Flying Cloud 27FB for the first time while visiting Rio Grande National Forest in the San Juan Mountains. The campground is located at Big Meadows Reservoir in South Fork, CO. The location is very remote - no hookups, no city lights, and cell phone service. We enjoyed our days by hiking the Cascade Falls trail as well as the Meadows Loop which goes around the entire Big Meadows Reservoir. We also fished the Big Meadows Reservoir for rainbow trout. Getting away to such a remote location was extremely relaxing.
Our first official trip with the Airstream Flying Cloud is in the books and it took us to Sugarite Canyon State Park, just east of Raton, New Mexico. The state park had a ton to offer! We were there for 3 nights.
The Lake Alice campground had water and electrical hookups as well as a dump station on the way out. Camphosts were awesome and we were told twice that we had the best spot in the Lake Alice campground and all of the Sugarite Canyon State Park. Showers were available near the ranger station on the south side entrance. It was a quick walk to the lake-to-lake trailhead.
Prior to our first camping trip, we installed a few things in our 2023 Airstream Flying Cloud 27FQ: a leveling system, a tire pressure monitoring system, and battery-operated LED lights in the bathroom.
The LevelMate Pro+ install https://levelmate.com was an easy install and only took a few minutes. The install of the Tire Minder TPMS i10 system https://www.tireminder.com proved to be a little more challenging. Once we got everything figured out, it became more clear what was going on. And we briefly discuss the setting configuration options as well as the different alerts for the TireMinder TPMS.
We bought our Canvasback Cargo Liner when we had an August delivery date on the new 2022 Ford F-150 truck that we ordered. So the liner came in, but the truck was delayed until December 2022. Once we finally got our new F-150, we installed the Canvasback Cargo Liner, but ran into an issue with the fit. This video is quick install of the Canvasback and what we like about them, but also covers how good their customer service was when something was wrong.

We have owned the Airstream Basecamp 16 for 5 years now. We purchased it in April of 2018, and in April of 2023 we decided it was time to upgrade our camper. After enjoying 5 seasons of camping, we head out for our last trip with the Airstream Basecamp. We reminisce on the last 5 years with this wonderful little camper and wish all the best to its new owners!
First time using Ford BlueCruise! Hands-free driving can be a little nerve-wracking. Watch as we try BlueCruise in our 2022 Ford F-150 for the first time. This feature makes driving the interstate great, but you still have to watch out for other vehicles and abide by driving laws.
Owning a camper can be a lot of upkeep. You have storage fees, repairs and maintenance, warranty issues, and safety recalls. We purchased our Airstream Basecamp 16 in March 2018. After owning and traveling in our Airstream Basecamp for 5 seasons, we review all of the repairs, recalls, and warranty work we have done through our local Airstream dealers.
Although we have not owned another camper, we are impressed by how well the Airstream Basecamp has held up over the last 5 years. We lived in some pretty tough climates, and feel our Basecamp has weathered the storm.
How do you change license plate lights? We recently purchased a 2022 Ford F150 with LEDs everywhere...the headlights, tail lights, signals, inside, tailgate...everywhere except the two that illuminate the license place in the rear. In this video, I will show you how to replace the two license plate lights for about 7 bucks and 10 minutes of labor. This is a super easy install, and the new LED license plate lights can be found on Amazon or at any auto parts store.

This week we celebrated Bosley's first birthday. What a year it has been! Bosley gained 2 new sisters. He visited 5 states - Louisiana, Colorado, Wyoming, Nebraska, and South Dakota. He had his first haircut. He attended training classes. We've gone on several hikes, brought trees inside, played chase and fetch, and romped in the snow outside. He had 2 eye surgeries to correct a condition called entropion and has since fully healed. We are now just waiting for his lustrous locks to grow back.

Denver has had an incredible winter thus far, with 10 inches more than average snowfall. We have 3 dogs - an English Springer Spaniel, a German Shorthair Pointer, and an Old English Sheepdog. They are all very active breeds, so staying in bed all day isn’t an option. I wanted to show you some things we do on snow days, including exercising indoors, baking bread, and walking around once the snow has stopped to enjoy the views. Hope this video brightens your day!

We are wrapping up the camping season by winterizing the Airstream Basecamp. In this video we walk through some of the steps that we took for winterization. Specifically, we go over emptying the Truma water heater, turning the valves correctly to bypass the Truma hot water tank, running anti-freeze through the pipes, and turning off the power to the batteries.

We weren't expecting such a great tour and amazing hikes around the area. American Bison are all over the place while hiking, and at some points force you to re-route.

We recently took a trip with our Airstream Basecamp to South Dakota by way of Nebraska. One day we made a day trip up to Badlands National Park and drove through, stopping at nearly all of the viewing areas.
We recently took our Airstream Basecamp and the dogs on a road trip to South Dakota to visit Mount Rushmore as well as a couple of the nearby National Parks. After our first night at KOA Custer, we started the day at a local trailhead of the George S. Mickelson Trail. After dinner, we headed to the Evening Lighting Ceremony at Mount Rushmore. The next morning we went back to Mount Rushmore with the dogs to see it during the day and to take the dogs on another hike.
We recently took a trip with our Airstream Basecamp to South Dakota by way of Nebraska. On our way to visit Mount Rushmore, we stopped in Scottsbluff, NE for a night. While in Scottsbluff, we visited Riverside Park which had tons of hiking trails along the North Platte River as well as fantastic views of the Scottsbluff National Monument. The next morning, we got up early and stopped at Scooter's Coffee before driving to our next stop in Custer, SD.
We visited the local Denver Airstream dealership and checked out a few different Airstream travel trailer models. We were able to tour a few 2022 Airstream trailers, including a 23FBQ Flying Cloud, 25RBT Flying Cloud (older model), 27FBQ with Bunk Flying Cloud, and a 23FBT International. This was a very interesting tour in that we got to compare several Airstream trailers side by side, so we could easily see the differences among them.
Today we review the steps we take when getting ready for a camping trip. We are about to leave for a week long trip to South Dakota, so I detail bringing the Airstream Basecamp home. We cover checking propane, turning on the refrigerator and meal prepping for our trip.

We had another extraordinary week! We ordered a small box from 5280 Produce and made a few recipes from it including Shrimp, Sausage, and Veggie Skillet as well as a Creamy Tomato Soup. We visited Cherry Creek North and had lunch at Mason's Famous Lobster Rolls. The lobster rolls are delicious! Then headed to Bonnie Brae for some amazing, homemade ice cream.
I recently visited Grand Junction, CO. While there we drove the short distance to see the Colorado National Monument; it's just a few miles west of town. We entered Colorado National Monument at the East Grand Junction entrance on Monument Road and drove on the historic Rim Rock Drive, then exited the park at the West Entrance in Fruita, CO.
We visited the 2022 MTN WEST OVERLAND EXPO in Loveland, CO. This expo features tons of exhibitors, classes, happy hours, giveaways, test drives, and so much more. If you purchase tickets early enough, you can camp in the open grassy area near the expo, but hurry because these spots sell out fast!

Did you know there are beaches in Denver?!? We took a quick trip over to Aurora Reservoir in Aurora, CO. While there isn't quite as much offered in this park as there is at Cherry Creek Reservoir, there is still an awesome 7.8 mile hike and bike trail around the water and plenty of wildlife to see. The Aurora Reservoir has fishing, archery, standup paddle board and kayak rentals, swimming, scuba, and boating.
We recently visited Rocky Mountain National Park for a few days of camping, hiking, and fishing. We stayed at Glacier Basin Campground for three nights. We hiked to Sprague Lake where we had fantastic views of Hallet Peak. We then brought fishing gear, parked at Bear Lake Trailhead and hiked to Nymph Lake and Dream Lake to try to catch some trout.
Planning a trip to Wyoming? We found a great little place to stay, a little hidden gem - Saratoga, WY! We met Danielle with Discover Rescue (check out their YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/@discoverrescue ) in Saratoga, WY for a weekend camping trip. We were surprised by this quaint little town. We stayed at Deer Haven RV park. It is settled on North Platte River, a quick walk into town, and a short drive to Saratoga Lake.

Danielle has been traveling full-time in her Airstream since January of 2022. She originally purchased it to live in, then decided to hit the road. With many people experiencing different issues with the Truma hot water system in their Airstream Basecamp, we wanted to share some tips on how to problem-solve the most common errors. To ensure consistent hot water, we recommend checking the water valves, confirming the Truma unit is plugged into the electrical outlet, turning the Truma control panel on to the proper heat setting, and setting the energy source (gas, electric, or combination).
Last week I took a trip to Estes Park, CO to visit our friends from Discover Rescue (their YouTube Channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC4etrBIi7YvYKmlo9nLNGGA ). Estes Park is about 65 miles from Denver. It's a great day trip, or you can spend the night at a nearby campground. We toured Spruce Lake RV Resort where they offer RV camping sites as well as cabins for rent.
We visited Cherry Creek State Park in Denver, CO. There's so much to do in this state park! Cherry Creek Reservoir allows boating, fishing, jet skiing, sailing, water skiing, and swimming. The Cherry Creek Campground has 135 full hook-up sites as well as tent camping. There are showers, laundry facilities as well as a dump station onsite. The 107 acre off-leash dog park has plenty of room for your dogs to play and even has water access.
Last Saturday, we pulled the trailer out of storage to get it prepped for the upcoming season. This video walks through some of the steps that we took to de-winterize the Airstream Basecamp. Specifically, we go over clearing the lines of anti-freeze, sanitizing the fresh water tank and lines, and testing the Truma furnace and hot water heater.
I made a window cover for our Airstream Basecamp. I didn't want to add any extra weight, so I found this window bra pattern from someone in the Airstream Basecamp facebook group. I used my sewing machine, purchased the materials from Sailrite and Amazon. This whole project took me a few hours to complete.

We have had our Airstream Basecamp for a little over 2 years. We had seen this bed modification and had wanted to do it, but never found anything where we could follow along to understand it. So, we jumped and did it with some limited information.
