Tattoos, Tours, and Craft Breweries in the Mitten of Michigan

This week we are touring the mitten of Michigan. Starting out in Ann Arbor, we stayed at the Wayne County Fairgrounds. From our base here, we spent time touring the Ford F150 Manufacturing facility in Dearborn, Michigan and getting lots of great Ford history. We followed that up by visiting a Lucky Monkey Tattoos for Nick to get a new Airstream tattoo done by Alex Gama. The Tattoo is the Galley Windows from the Airstream and Alex did an excellent job taking a photo of the windows and turning them into a great piece. Dana Forrester helped out a lot and we learned that she is the owner. She gave Emily a tour of thier second Tattoo shop, Ritual, just two doors down from Lucky Monkey.

From there, we headed to the Grand Rapids area. We stayed at Lake Wabasis and visited Grand Rapids as well as Rockford. In Rockford we got to spend some time at a local farmers market where we picked up protein, vegetables, berries and some chips and salsa. Visiting a farmers market is a great time because you can find so many great local vendors. We Met Irwin Family Farms, and got some Chorizo and Breakfast sausage.

Last on this trip was making our way to Gaylord, Michigan just an overnight stop on our way to Mackinac City. Here we partook in the many beers of Big Buck Brewing and had a couple of pretty good sandwiches. The following morning, we walked around downtown and visited Cops & Donuts, a local bakery that was purchased by a few police officers when the owners hit hard times. A local Car Rally caught our eye and we walked through to see some impressive restorations.

Next week we head to Mackinac City and Island.
