I have been posting some videos on youtube lately just chronicling some things that happen during a week for me.  A lot of it is driven by me wanting to get more video of things that we do.  Enjoy the last couple that I have put up.  I had originally planned to try to get a video up every week.  I am guessing I will be more like once a month, with the goal of getting to weekly eventually.

This year we thought it would be fun to put some videos together and share them.  I am hoping these will become a little more exciting as the year progresses, but for now I thought these gave a good idea of how the first 7 days of the year have been.

I just finished my first week of work at my new job.  It was a tough and laborious week, but it was really fun as well.  So essentially you are seeing a bit of traffic this week, followed by a delivery we received from a new service and a new game we played last night.

We spent approximately €10.50 to patronize the toilettes in France.  FYI to fellow travelers, make sure you have some spare change handy; the toilettes costs as much as €1.50 per visit.  On a positive note, they are very clean.

We visited several tourist attractions in Paris including Notre-Dame Cathedral, the Louvre, the Eiffel Tower, Champs-Elysées, Arc de Triomphe, Pantheon, and Saint Michael statue.

In Bayeux we perused the Tapestry, MAHB, the Cathedral, Battle of Normandy Memorial Museum, and British Military Cemetery.  We also took a short trip to the D-Day beaches – Omaha beach, Pointe Du Hoc, and the American Cemetery.

We also had some tasty French foods – baguettes, macarons, assorted cheeses, chocolate, ice-cream, crepes, coffee, croquet mousier, quiche, onion soup, and so many other yummy treats.  Did I mention macarons?  They were delicious!

Spectating Ironman Wisconsin

On Sunday, September 13th, we loaded the dogs and headed towards Madison to spectate at Ironman Wisconsin.  Since Madison is over 2 hours from our house, Nick and I knew we wouldn’t make the start of the race.  So we decided the best thing would be for us to leave in the morning to watch the athletes off the bike and the leaders of the pack cross the finish line.

We’ve been spectators at Ironman Texas, Ironman 70.3 Galveston, and Ironman 70.3 Racine.  These races have ample space to bring dogs and still be in sight of the finish line.  Although we had seen pictures and read about Ironman Wisconsin, we didn’t realize the finish line and area near transition were close quarters and not ideal for the dogs.

We arrived around noon and walked around, trying to get a close view of the transition area.  We found a spot near bike out and waited for the leaders of the bike to begin their run.

We made our way down to the capital to find a spot a little calmer, as the dogs were getting a little antsy with all of the noise as the athletes made their way out of transition.

We grabbed a bite to eat, and found a spot in the shade to cheer the runners as they made their first (and second) lap around the capitol.

Weekly Activity Report 07/19/2015

We made it to the gym once last week to swim.  Nick finished before me and snapped this picture while I was finishing up my laps.  I’ve consistently been impressed with the pictures produced by our Nikon Coolpix AW120.

Sunshine and Bright Skies

This morning we woke up to rain.  The last couple of weeks have been pretty dreary with the sun only making a few subtle appearances.  Today, though, the forecast promised a bright and sunny afternoon.  I was doubtful, to say the least.  After eating lunch, I was sitting on the sofa and happened to glance out of the window.  With the sun finally making an appearance, it was as if it illuminated the clouds in the sky.

I grabbed the camera and snapped a couple of shots of the white, fluffy clouds against the bright, blue sky.  I don’t remember the sky being so vibrant in Houston, although maybe I never took the time to notice it.
