It’s been three months since we started our journey west. In the past 3 months a lot of changes in our lives have kept us from getting a lot accomplished. We want to bring you up to speed and assure you that we will start posting more frequently.
In September, Emily accepted a new job in Washington. We took about 10 days and drove from Wisconsin to our temporary living apartment in Tacoma. On the way, we stopped in Colorado and visited with my mom and my sister (+family) for 3 days. It was a pleasant drive for the most part and the dogs handled it well. When we got to Washington there were a few days of acclimation before Emily started work. I, on the other hand, continued to be employed by my company in Wisconsin and worked from home. I made two trips back to Wisconsin over the last 3 months and as of today, no longer work for them. I enjoyed my time, but it was time to move on. I did receive a job offer here in Washington a few months back and start work in just a few days!
In October, we purchased a house and moved in. In the first 60 days in the house we completed many projects. We replaced lighting fixtures in the hall upstairs, put in a cast iron kitchen sink and a new faucet, replaced a light in the dining room and updated quite a bit of our furniture that we either sold off in Wisconsin or just didn’t have when we arrived. We are now looking for storage space in the house and there is plenty of stuff either still packed or just laying out until we find that space.
The store stayed active while we were in transit and we are seeing quite a few sales each week. This is a positive reminder that there are people coming to the site. We appreciate people who have continued to check for our progress (even though we didn’t post).
I will end this by saying happy new year, and you can expect quite a bit from us in 2017!
